Life is full of surprises. The other day I was tucking April into bed when she had to jump out for some reason. I laughed when two little purple clogged feet came popping out from under the covers. What had happened was I had just bought her a new pair of purple clogs with pink swirls in them after ruining her first pair. She was so delighted with them she was quite sure that next they would disappear if they were anywhere but on her feet. Now when we go away, you’ll be sure to spy a little girl with curly hair and large chocolate eyes with purple clogs on her piggies.
When I needed to stop for parts for our mower at the service center, my son, Jordan, was wearing his lime green clogs. One of the salesmen passed by, patting him on the head, says to him “I like your shoes!” Very emphatically, Jordan replies, “They are NOT shoes! Do we embrace the gifts that God has given us? Even the little gifts, with such abandonment? There is this saying “What if you only had left tomorrow what you had thanked God for today”. What about the gifts of monotonous, average, every day chores? For me, that’s laundry:) What will you give thanks for today?
